THIS HOME IS SICK

Amidst the soaring pines and sloping sands of Argentina’s Mar Azul Forest, this concrete house by BAK Arquitectos rests silently. A short hike from the Atlantic coast, this home is located in one of Argentina’s top bathing destinations, a few hundred miles south of Buenos Aires. To escape the busy shoreline activity and enjoy more of Mar Azul’s nature, this concrete house was constructed on a rolling sandy hill inland from the beach.
The goal of both the architect and client was to leave the nature of Mar Azul Forest intact– to avoid harming both the pine foliage or the natural slope of the selected lot. BAK Arquitectos executed this perfectly, constructing a cool concrete home which looks as much a part of the surrounding nature as it does a man made structure. As a result, the client can escape to the serenity of the forest and experience an environment entirely opposite of the bustle of Buenos Aires to the north.
